SmoothLedger 2026 Roadmap: Bulk Generation, Cloud Accounts, and a New Look

Happy New Year! 2025 was a year of growth, but for 2026, we have a different goal: Scale.

We started SmoothLedger as a collection of simple, no-signup tools. While we will always keep our core generators free and open, this year we are rolling out a suite of "Power User" features designed to rival enterprise software like QuickBooks and Xero—but without the enterprise price tag.

Here is a sneak peek at the major features rolling out this month.

1. Bulk Generation via Excel (The Time Saver)

For freelancers with one or two clients, our manual invoice generator is perfect. But for agencies, property managers, or HR departments processing payroll for 50 people, typing data manually is a pain.

Coming this month: The Bulk Upload Engine.

  • How it works: Download our simple Excel/CSV template. Fill in your rows (Client Name, Amount, Due Date, etc.). Upload the file.
  • The Result: SmoothLedger will instantly generate, name, and zip 50+ PDF invoices or payslips in seconds.

2. SmoothLedger Cloud (Secure Authentication)

You asked, we listened. While our "Local Storage" method is great for privacy, it meant you couldn't switch from your laptop to your phone without losing data.

Introducing SmoothLedger Accounts.

You will soon be able to create a secure, encrypted account. This allows you to:

  • Save unlimited documents to the cloud.
  • Access your client list from any device, anywhere.
  • Sync your settings and preferences across your team.
Note: Guest Mode isn't going anywhere. You can still use all tools without an account if you prefer.

3. A Completely Redesigned UI

We have rebuilt our interface from the ground up. It’s not just prettier; it’s faster and more intuitive.

  • Dark Mode 2.0: A deeper, contrast-rich dark theme that is easier on the eyes during those late-night accounting sessions.
  • Live Preview: See changes on your document in real-time as you type, with zero lag.
  • Mobile Optimization: Creating an invoice on your phone will now feel as smooth as a native app.

4. Financial Reporting & Analytics

Later this year, we will be introducing the Dashboard. Instead of just creating documents, you will be able to track them.

  • Income vs. Expense Graphs: Visualise your cash flow instantly.
  • Tax Estimator: Automatically calculate how much you should set aside based on your generated invoices.
  • Client Insights: See who your best clients are and who pays the fastest.
